The Village Voice’s Robert Sietsema, one of the city’s few major restaurant critics to take ethnic food seriously, compiled a list of his 10 favorite restaurants in Elmhurst.

Elmhurst might be the most diverse neighborhood in Queens, which probably makes it the most diverse neighborhood in the world. Anyone in New York should make a trip out there and try one of these restaurants.

I have one to add to the list. Lao Bei Fang, a Beijing style snack shop on Broadway, and a great place to take people who want to try authentic Chinese food but aren’t too adventurous. It’s basically potstickers and lo mein, but THE BEST versions of those. Dirt cheap too. My boyfriend and I went last weekend, spent 16 dollars and took half of what we ordered home for the next day.
